Mt Claremont Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning, rain, hail …… or 40 degree temperature, we are open.

The vibe is relaxed yet energised and interactive, the sense of organised turmoil adds informality and humour. Customers are buying more than just an evening meal!

The Market
The Mt Claremont Farmers’ Market is an exciting initiative. Predominantly a fresh produce market operating every Saturday morning at the Mt Claremont Primary School, the market is a school community based project that provides an opportunity for farmers, food producers and chefs to sell farm-origin and associated gourmet food products directly to their customers.

Commencing trade in December 2007 with only eight stalls the Mt Claremont Farmers’ Market has certainly filled a niche market. It has enjoyed great success having grown rapidly with over 45 stalls consistently attracting crowds of over 2000 people on a weekly basis. Situated on the corner of Alfred Road and Montgomery Road, Mt Claremont Primary School is transformed into a thriving metropolis every Saturday.

Cathedral Square Market

BOOKS | VINYL | VINTAGE | DESIGN | ART | FOOD | FASHION

Two full weeks of school holidays to entertain your children can be a daunting challenge, so it is a perfect time for Cathedral Square to launch their exciting new book exchange as a new edition to the markets. Children are being encouraged to bring down a pre-loved book that can be swapped with another best seller of their choice for free. And with plenty of cosy spots to sit and read, they could even read their way through a few on the day.

With a new theme to delight all ages, the Cathedral Square markets has been refocused on the art of storytelling through literature, history and music. In addition to a high-quality range of stalls, audiences will be invited to discover the history of the State Buildings and Cathedral Square’s fascinating past.

The State Buildings will be offering two very special heritage tours by leading WA heritage architect Ron Bodycoat. These will commence at 11am and 1pm from the Book Exchange. There will be themed 3D drawing classes, cosy storytelling corners and the chance for energetic mini maestros to try their hand at the interactive musical sculpture ‘The Instrument’.

Colourful big-band Junkadelic will also be running kids’ music classes throughout the day, while the Indigenous Communities Education & Awareness Foundation (ICEA) will give children the chance to learn more about our indigenous history through NAIDOC week activities on the Cathedral Square lawn. In its continued focus on offering a unique and unusual market experience, the July 3 edition of the markets will also have its biggest ever collection of vintage book and vinyl vendors to fossick through.

The Cathedral Square Markets are held on the first Sunday of every month, adding a new dimension to the newly developed State Buildings retail, hospitality and hotel precinct and its celebration of all things WA. Each month a revolving selection of stalls are invited to set up shop in Perth’s newest inner-city neighbourhood, with the stallholders selected to fit in perfectly with the precinct’s focus on supporting local makers and producers. A meal at the State Buildings is the perfect way to finish the day spent perusing the markets, with delicious brunch and dinner menus on offer at Petition Kitchen or breakfast and lunch at Post.
